What is the Jesmond Conference?
The Jesmond Conference is for Anglicans seeking to consider British society in the light of Biblical truth. It aims to stimulate discussion, prayer and action. Previous conferences have dealt with (amongst other things) British values, education, sexual ethics and the future of the Church of England. (These are available to watch at www.clayton.tv). The conference consists of 4 talks by David Holloway followed by round table discussion and prayer. In addition, there are 2 Bible readings by Jonathan Pryke and a closing Q&A panel. The conference takes place at The Holiday Inn, Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne and runs from 12.30 pm on Monday until after lunch on Tuesday. For a timetable and prices, please click on the links below.
Christian Faith & The Public Square
The conference will face the need for Christians and the Church corporately (if possible) to speak with a new unashamedly Christian voice in public spheres that include, locally and nationally, the media (including the BBC), education, medicine, entertainment, business and, of course, Government. What does or will that look like in practice and where can we start?
Addendum: The "public square" looks somewhat different after the election of Boris Johnson. So we'll be asking how we should be defining the Christian Faith and the Public Square? For is there any sort of "sea change"? If so, what now are the challenges to the Christian faith? And what is the hope for the public square for which we can positively pray and plan?
